Spotify – The next generation

Posted in Music on April 27th, 2010 by Paul Boocock – 3 Comments

Today, Spotify launched a major update. It’s brimming with new features, Social Media integration and Local File support to name just two. I been a Spotify user for a while now and it’s by far the best music service I’ve ever used. It’s definitely the way forward for the music industry and I hope they continue to embrace it.

So, what does the latest Spotify release (0.4.3) bring to the table?

The free version of Spotify is invite only at the moment but I can fully recommend getting a premium account, without premium users Spotify would cease to exist (that’s a discussion for another day!) However, if your a little unsure about splashing out £9.99 a month, I have some invites for the free acounts, leave a comment or drop me an e-mail I’ll hook you up.

Album of the Week (08/02/2010)

Its been out for a couple of months now and although I meant to post this album most ago, it’d better late than never right?

Its one of my favourite bands and whilst this album is more of a grower than an instant hit, its grown into something amazing for me…

Bon Jovi - The Circle

Spotify Album of the Week (30/12/2009)

Since I’m now back, I best get this up. I said I had 2 Albums of the weeks lined up 3 weeks ago and haven’t posted another once since, bad me.

So here it is, albeit a little older now and don’t worry, its not Will Young’s – The Hits album but it is almost as camp.

Robbie Williams - Reality Killed the Video Star

I guess I’ve always had a bit of a liking for Robbie’s songs. I don’t know where it came from, but besides Rudebox, I don’t think he’s had a bad album. So here is his new album, Reality Killed the Video Star, and it contains some great tracks. I must admit to being particularly fond of You Know Me, his latest single.

So there it is, another Spotify Album of the Week. Here’s a sneak peek of next weeks Album of the Week.

“Although its been out for a while now and it’s from one of my favourite bands, I wasn’t too fond on my first few listens. Its certainly a grower and its turned into one of my favourite albums of the year.”

Any ideas?

Spotify Album of the Week (04/12/2009)

Its been a while since I’ve done my Album of the Week as I haven’t been listening to hardly any music. However, there are two albums which have been getting some ear time recently. So at least that’s the next two weeks sorted.

This week is Chris Moyles and his Parody album. You either love him or you hate in, I’m definitely in the love him camp and this album is brilliantly put together and contains some of my favourite parodies from his Breakfast show, plus some new ones.

If you’ve never heard Chris Moyles or any of his parodies, its well worth a listen.

Back to the real artists next week though, with a real grower of an album.

Its a day late, buts its here! This week its Jet who, after a 3 year absense, have come back with an awesome album. She’s a Genius is the song to look out for on this album.

Also, I have to apologise for the lack of posts recently, I’m a very busy man! It didn’t help that I was having hosting problems last week either. I expect to have a mobile phone run down up here very soon, as its almost upgrade time again!

Not really an album this week, but something I stumbled across on Fiats website.

This is a Play list created by Fiat with some brilliant feel good tunes. Its managed to cheer me up this week.

A new feature I’ve decided to do is to feature an album which is currently available on Spotify each week.

This week:

Paramore – brand new eyes

Paramore - Brand New Eyes

This album is getting played an awful lot on my Spotify account at the moment and that’s because its a brilliant album, how can you not like Pop-Punk with a female Vocalist? If you do like this, you should definitely check out some of Paramores other albums. Riot! is especially good.
